New Addition

So some of you may have heard – Susan recently adopted a cat. Now the Buckle has competition or a brother – but they’re working that out. He is a 4 month old Siamese kitten and his name is Maurice.

Buckleton was absolutely shaking when we first brought the cat home. In the past, I lived with a roommate who had a cat. We had both adopted dogs within 2 weeks of each other and Kinker (the cat) was the established creature of the household. So when the dogs got up in his shit – he popped em a couple. They generally left each other alone after that. Ever since, Buckley always gives the thousand yard stare when he looks at cats. Now he has one under his own roof.

So when we walked into the living room with this crate, we set it down and opened the door. Buckley stood there in typical poetic-statue fashion and just shivered looking at the crate. Maurice was at the back giving us the ‘I’m not f@#$n moving’. But I think he was just as scared. After all, up to this point he had been called ‘Clover’. He gets dragged to a new place, gets called a different name, and we set his crate right in front of the dog. It would probably take a while to earn some trust. But he’s really coming around.

Bucknacious was the catalyst (no pun intended) in bringing Maurice out from under the bed. He was hiding under there for at least the first day without coming out. After the first couple of days he started exploring the room – and it was Buckley who attracted him out from under the bed. Maurice came out and started playing with the Buckle tail (it was wagging alot). Eventually, he began walking up against Buckley – then Buckley would move – and he would follow. So for the first couple of days, The Buckles has his own shadow – and it kind of freaked him out a bit. Now he’s a little more chill about it – but now when we play with Maurice – Buckley gets jealous and he does this punching motion with-his-snout – and trys to scare the cat away.

Now Maurice is becoming a little braver, he’s exploring the house and making appearances while guests are in the house. Buckley is still a bit on the jealous side – but they’ll get it worked out!

he actually stayed still for a couple of seconds

this is how Maurice gives Buckley warning! Funny....most cats just fluff their tail and arch their back! Maurice has got style.
